Homelab Stack Builder

Find what to self-host, then generate a ready-to-run Docker Compose file.

  1. Get a server. Any always-on Linux machine works: an old laptop, a mini PC or a Raspberry Pi 4/5. Ubuntu Server or Debian are easy choices.
  2. Install Docker on it:
    curl -fsSL https://get.docker.com | sh
sudo usermod -aG docker $USER # then log out and back in
  3. Note two things you'll need later: your user and group IDs (run id, usually 1000) and the server's IP address (run hostname -I).
  4. Pick apps below, build your stack, download both files into one folder on the server, and run docker compose up -d in that folder.
  5. Open your apps using the links shown under "Open your apps" in the builder.

Don't open these apps to the internet with port forwarding. To reach them away from home, use Tailscale or WireGuard (both in the catalog).

What do you want to do?

Open a category and pick as many as you like.

How comfortable are you with Docker?

Where will you run it?

Changes the setup guide, default folders, and on Proxmox whether apps run in Docker or their own LXC.

Settings

Run id on your server to find your PUID/PGID. Media goes in data/media (movies, tv, music, books) and downloads in data/torrents. Keeping both in one folder lets Sonarr and Radarr move files instantly instead of copying them.

App catalog

Your stack

Put both files in the same folder on your server, then run docker compose up -d. The Setup guide tab has step-by-step instructions for where you're deploying.

Open your apps

Once the stack is running, your apps are here. Set your server IP in Settings to make these links work.
